The Consumer Price Index is the basis of indexation of a number of tax concessions. As from September 2012 the base year value of the index was re-set, so that the values which had been used up to that time were replaced.
The CPI statistic used commonly for income tax-related matters is the ‘All groups CPI weighted average of eight capital cities’.
