BSB codes are a searchable 6-digit identification number which is unique to every bank branch in Australia.

The codes are made up of the following elements:
- First 2 digits: Unique bank identification number
- Third digit: Unique State number
- Last three digits: Unique branch code
The State code numbers are as follows:

4 – Queensland
5 – South Australia, Northern Territory
6 – Western Australia
7 – Tasmania
